PMPlan Enterprise Project Management Suite© "For Earned Value Management (EVM) and Strategic Workforce Planning" AlNik Solutions has developed an Enterprise Suite of Project and Line Management Tools. These tools support project management and line management teams in providing for concurrent and timely access to a centralized project and resource database by all project teams for all projects, expediting and improving the processing of project and manpower forecast data. The tools provide the line manager, using the same database, timely project status reports and support for the administration and forecasting of the workload requirements on the total organizational human resource pool. The above illustrations represent the makeup of the Enterprise Suite, and its data flow.   PMPlan© - AlNik Solutions flagship, autonomous, Earned Value Management (EVM) Project Management software tool. PMPlan, is an autonomous, MS Windows® based Project Management graphical software tool that focus' on project development through the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and addresses project and management requirements, contractual data items, and Earned Value Analysis and Reporting on cost and schedule. PMPlan provides for the integration of the WBS and the Organizational Matrix in a manner that permits identification of responsibilities, cost account selection, work authorization, scheduling, resource management, budgeting, cost accumulation, cost and schedule performance measurement, variance analysis, and reporting and change control for WBS and Organizational elements. PMPlan is a project management tool developed by and for program managers for the planning and organizing of work activities, schedules, resources and budgets, and tracking the work performed on these to determine the Value Earned through the measurement of schedule and cost variances to a baseline plan. PMPlan aids in the construction of, and tracks a project through its Work Breakdown Structure, Milestones, time phased Integrated Project Scheduling, Precedence Logic Network with Critical Path, and through individualized and categorized Resource Budgeting. PMPlan tracks resource loading, by day, week, month, quarter, year or fiscal year, and tracks budgets for these resources at every level of the WBS above the activity the resources are planned. PMPlan functions in an autonomous mode wherein it saves data files to its own internal database. PMPlan data files may be imported into PMPlanDB and PMPlanPro. PMPlan can be installed on any MS Windows® (NT, 2000 or XP) compatible computer. PMPlan is aligned with, and adheres to the Principles of Earned Value Management Systems as outlined in the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) Standard, EIA-748-A, adopted by EIA in accordance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) patent policy. Example PMPlan Schedule Form   PMPlanDB© - the PMPlan Enterprise sever based version of the PMPlan EVM Project Management software tool. PMPlanDB, the enterprise version of PMPlan is a client to, and stores its data in an MS SQL Server 2000™, through an attached 'PMPlanDatabase'. PMPlanDB, with the exception of the resource pool, looks and works the same as PMPlan, but the application contains additional features not available in PMPlan such as a the ability to define project rules, develop Burden Rates, use the Resource Tree, and can define project specific holidays and override normal non-workdays. Resource loading, which is stored at daily level, is done from task level with automatic rollup to the cost centre and the project. PMPlanDB incorporates import/export capabilities for other applications including PMPlan, MS Project® and Microframe's MPM®. PMPlanDB can be customized to interface with additional modules (not included with this application), custom designed to access specific project and forecasting data of other applications and/or organizational databases allowing for additional and more comprehensive Earned Value Management (EVM) reporting. PMPlanDB, like PMPlan, is an integrated project management tool that is based on the fundamental concepts of project management, planning and control, and has been structured consistent with the requirements of Government and Industry. This application can be installed on any of the site’s Windows® (NT, 2000 or XP) compatible computer, and includes twenty licensed user seats that can be concurrently connected to the database (Note: additional licensed concurrent seats can be purchased). The 'PMPlanDatabase' contains all of the tables used by PMPlanDB, PMPlanPro, and LMPlanDB. The 'PMPlanDatabase' is stored on an independently purchased and installed Microsoft SQL Server 2000™ on the organization's network server, and is managed by the included anDBManager software tool. Example PMPlanDB WBS Tree and Resource Pool Forms PMPlanPro© - the autonomous and/or server based Professional version of the PMPlan EVM Project Management software tool. PMPlanPro is the professional version of PMPlan, but has the same look and features as PMPlanDB. PMPlanPro can interface with the 'PMPlanDatabase' that contains all of the tables used by both PMPlanDB and LMPlanDB. The 'PMPlanDatabase' is attached to an independently purchased and installed Microsoft SQL Server 2000™ on the organization's network server, and is managed by anDBManager. PMPlanPro can also be used like PMPlan in an autonomous mode where it saves data files to its own internal database. To the project manager, PMPlanPro looks and works the same as PMPlan, but the application contains additional features not available in PMPlan such as a more advanced internal database, and the ability to define project rules, develop Burden Rates, use the Resource Tree, and can define project specific holidays and override normal non-workdays. PMPlanPro, like PMPlan, is an integrated project management tool that is based on the fundamental concepts of project management, planning and control, and has been structured consistent with the requirements of Government and Industry. PMPlanPro will import PMPlan data files. PMPlanPro can be installed on any MS Windows® (NT, 2000 or XP) compatible computer. Like PMPlan, PMPlanPro is a WBS oriented development tool, and a Resource focused planning tool. The PMPlanPro Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) integrates WBS elements and associated project resources with; Milestones, Gantt Scheduling and the Logic Network. PMPlanPro tools provide enhanced resource management (especially when utilizing the capabilities of the LMPlanDB), and detail control of project budgeting and tracking, including accurate variance analysis and earned value reporting methodologies. Since it has a standalone license, it can be connected to the “anData” database without counting as one of the concurrent users. PMPlanPro can be used to select a project from the 'PMPlanDatabase', save the project data files to its own internal database, and then transport the data to another location for review (i.e. a client's site to conduct negotiations without being connected to the database server, then subsequently updating the 'PMPlanDatabase'). The expected cost and availability of PMPlanPro will be available at a later date as this application is still a work-in-process. Example PMPlan Graphics Performance and Cost Performance Reports   LMPlanDB© - the server based Resource Database Pool for Manloading and Forecasting. LMPlanDB, a complementary module to PMPlanDB, is a powerful management software tool for project and organizational workload, and human resource manloading and forecasting. LMPlanDB uses the same resource pool and resource tree as the PMPlanDB application, but uses different project and loading tables. This module is configured for the line manager that views the resource loading on a monthly basis at the billable project level and for un-billable overhead activities. This provides a quicker means of looking across all projects and site forecasts. The project data from PMPlanDB and PMPlanPro can be imported into the LMPlanDB tables. LMPlanDB stores its data in the 'PMPlanDatabase' that contains all of the tables used by both PMPlanDB and PMPlanPro. The 'PMPlanDatabase' is attached to an independently purchased and installed Microsoft SQL Server 2000™ on the organization's network server, and is managed by anDBManager. LMPlanDB can be installed on any MS Windows® (NT, 2000 or XP) compatible computer. LMPlanDB provides the user with: • A client application that provides the front end to the staff loading data within the PMPlan Database, “anData". • The ability to assign, and reallocate staff to projects. • Reports to review these assignments in different ways. • The ability to import planned project loading from Project Management tools such as: • AlNik Solutions PMPlanDB© and PMPlanPro©. • PMPlan data and MS Project data may be imported through the PMPlanDB interface. • Microframe's MPM® Project. • ProPricer Data Flow of the LMPlanDB Enterprise Line Management Tool© LMPlanDB provides a process for assigning and reallocating staff to projects from the labor pool within the ‘PMPlanDatabase’. Staff Breakdown Structure Relationships and the Staff Assignment Process LMPlanDB, as a fully functional software tool may also be used independently on the server in conjunction with the included anDBManager software tool, to plan, forecast, and provide reports on the use of the organizations resources. Example LMPlanDB Form anDBManager© - the Microsoft SQL Server 2000™ attached 'PMPlanDatabase' Administrative Management Tool. anDBManager, is the application that provides the administrative management of the 'PMPlanDatabase'. The anDBManager allows management and financial staff, and their delegates, to access and manipulate ‘anData’ within the 'PMPlanDatabase' for the administration and service of sensitive resource database tables that are not normally available to other staff within the organization. 'PMPlanDatabase' Access and Permissions In anDBManager, the Labour Pool of the organizations human resources is constructed (or may be imported from and/or integrated with the organizations HR database via a custom import module (not included with this application)). The Labour Pool may be modified to include all critical data necessary to make proper decisions for the use of the organizations resources in its daily activities, whether it is billable or un-billable in nature. These modifications would include staff specific skill levels and projected staff base rate increases in addition to other customizable resource table data that may be critical to the use of the resource. anDBManager, will enable the management of; staff skills and disciplines, staffing organizational structures, assignment of staff to selected labour categories, the detail and assignment of resource burdens to the organizations billable project and other un-billable activities. The 'PMPlanDatabase' contains all of the tables used by PMPlanDB, PMPlanPro, and LMPlanDB. The 'PMPlanDatabase' is attached to an independently purchased and installed Microsoft SQL Server 2000™ on the organization's network server, and is managed by anDBManager. anDBManager can be installed on any Windows® (NT, 2000 or XP) compatible computer. Example anDBManager Form Web Based Project Management Support. AlNik Solutions will also be developing, in the not to distant future, the capability to provide PMPlan Enterprise clients with the ability to provide interactive tools for internal clients (i.e. project team, management), and contracted reports for external clients (customers), via the web. Four web based tools are currently being considered: • anPMRpts – Read-only reporting tool for various EVM reporting, project management resource loading, and cost and scheduling activities. • anPMBOE – (For internal use only) Input tool, for developing the Project Manager Basis of Estimate for cost and schedule justification. • anPMEVM – (For internal use only) Input tool, for developing project related Earned Value Management reports. • anLMRpts – (For internal use only) Read-only Line Management reporting tool, for administrative resource management and forecasting.
