product lines, with PMPlan Enterprise providing Line Management support:
PMPlan Standard Product Line: The flagship
product "PMPlan
Standard", an autonomous (stand alone)
single-user product first developed during
the 1980's for Battelle Memorial Institute's
corporate purposes, and since 2003, has
been available for
use to the
general public through AlNik Solutions.
PMPlan,
is an Earned Value Project Management System, and combines
it's capabilities and
the reasonable attributes of other applications into one integrated
Project Management tool, compare
the features. The unlimited edition of PMPlan requires the "purchase" of
a "License Key", but the downloaded software is also a "Free" limited
edition, PMPlanLT, that's available for most student
applications and for initial product evaluation purposes.
PMPlan Enterprise Product Line: The 2007 release of, "PMPlan
Enterprise", an MS SQL Server® based
multi-user Suite of Project and Line Management
Tools, using a common database for all projects and associated resources.
PMPlan Enterprise tools support project management and line management teams in providing for concurrent and timely access to a centralized common project and workforce resource database by all project teams, for all projects, expediting and improving the processing of project and workforce forecast data.
The
project management tool, PMPlanDB, an enhanced version of PMPlan standard, and with the exception of the resource pool, looks and works the same as PMPlan. However, PMPlanDB contains additional features not available in PMPlan such as a the ability to define project rules, develop Burden Rate tables, etc. PMPlanDB can be customized to access specific project financial and forecasting data of other applications and/or organizational databases allowing for additional and more comprehensive Earned Value Management EVM) reporting.
The
line management tool, LMPlanDB, is a workforce assignment and forecasting tool. It can set
up it's own project file for limited purposes, or may import project plans from the Enterprise project management
tool, PMPlanDB, or other in house project or pricing tools, either directly or indirectly.
All sensitive information contained in the centralized database is managed, with limited
access, through another Enterprise tool, anDBManager.
The PMPlan Enterprise tools provide the project and line managers
with compatible tools that, when jointly applied to the common data within the centralized database, provides for timely project status reports and
summary data support for
the administration and forecasting of the workload and workforce requirements on the total organizational human resource pool defined within the database.
PMPlan
Standard data files may be imported into the PMPlan Enterprise
tool, "PMPlanDB".
PMPlanDB
provides Read/Write access to all or parts of projects
controlled by project managers.
PMPlanDB
can create a Portfolio (Master) Program consisting of
selected projects.
PMPlan
Enterprise requires access to a Microsoft SQL Sever® 2000,
or later (customer supplied), for the installation of it's
centralized database.

PMPlanPro: An enhancement of the PMPlan flagship
product, "PMPlanPro", is an autonomous (stand alone)
single-user product based on the PMPlan Enterprise "PMPlanDB" project management tool, but using an enhanced internal database for its stand alone project applications. However, PMPlanPro is compatible with, and will also serve as another Concurrent licensed user seat on an appropriately licensed PMPlan Enterprise common MS SQL Server database. Some advantages of using PMPlanPro are:
Similar to PMPlan Enterprise "PMPlanDB", the project management tool, is an enhanced version of the stand-alone PMPlan Standard, and with the exception of the resource pool, looks and works the same as PMPlan Standard. However, PMPlanPro fully contains the same additional features as PMPlan Enterprise "PMPlanDB" such as a the ability to define project rules, develop Burden Rate tables, etc., for more comprehensive Earned Value Management EVM) reporting.
Unlike PMPlan Enterprise "PMPlanDB", which is locked to a multi-user server based database, PMPlanPro provides the ability for a user to attach to the multi-user server based database as a Concurrent licensed user to work with, or on, a common proposal/project file. The file could then be checked-out to the PMPlanPro stand-alone internal database while locking-out access to the file on the PMPlan Enterprise common database and, assuming the PMPlanPro resides on a laptop computer, proceed to an offsite client location for the purpose of a proposed project contract negotiation, or for a project critical review.
Once the offsite work has been completed, the updated proposal/project file may be returned to the common database to update and replace the original file.

2000, XP or Vista) compatible platforms.
PMPlan Product Customization
PMPlan
Enterprise tools are powerful project and
resource management tools right out of the box, however,
experience has shown that most customers
have
unique requirements for interfacing with,
or exchanging data with, internal financial and HR data,
and/or other corporate directed commercial
applications (i.e. Deltek®, Microframe®, Microsoft®, ProPricer®,
etc.). AlNik Solutions recognizes
these requirements, and is in a position
to provide customization of the PMPlan Enterprise application
modules to address them.
