What's Important in a Project Plan?
- To develop a meaningful, but comprehensive and effective project
plan, along with the resources necessary to achieve the project
goals and expectations.
- To understand and manage the requirements and objectives,
along with the expectations and events associated with the project
goals.
- To develop timely and effective status and performance updates
of progress against the goals targeting the critical expectations
of the project plan.
Some PMPlan Capabilities
- Shows you a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of your project
as you are building it.
- Allow you to enter separate objectives and notes for each
WBS element.
- Generate a rich text file of the WBS with objectives, notes,
and other information in outline form for import into MS Word
to use in a proposal.
Generate the schedule by text entry of start and finish, drag
and stretch in a Gantt View, or Activity-Sequencing using Precedence
Dependency Method (PDM).
- Allow you enter Resource Loading (Staff) by period (Monthly,
Weekly, or Daily) by WBS Activity, by Individual Resource across
all activities, or Totals for each Resource across all activities.
Shows you the resource rollup loading for all upper WBS elements.
- Can use Job Categories for Resource Loading, plus get a cost
variance report of Job Categories rate versus actual resource
rate.
- Enter costing details for material, equipment, travel, services,
and consultants, which can later be used to generate Purchase
Orders.
- Allows marking activities as deliverable and providing tracking
of planned, actual, and approval dates.
- Provides an easy-to-use Earned Value Tracking System the meets
Government standards for Cost/Schedule Status Reporting. Also
generates earned value Gantt and Graphic Performance Reports.
The application will be able to download actual costs from the company cost Reporting System.
- Generate a Work Packages Subaccounts for submission to business
office.
- Generate a Work Authorization for each Work Package Subaccount
with objective, deliverables required, schedule, and agreed
budget, which becomes an internal contract between the Project
Manager and the Work Package Leader.
- Can import or export a MS Project file (primarily the schedule
and logic network information).
